An opticians has celebrated its anniversary by raising more than £900 for a charity.

Specsavers in Beccles marked its third year in business by inviting the Miniature Donkeys for Wellbeing charity to the store.

The donkeys – Jack, Saffron, and Bo-Peep – were a hit with visitors.

As part of the celebrations, the team held a cake sale and set up an arts-and-crafts stall.

Visitors had the chance to buy paintings made by the donkeys, create straw hats, and purchase a 2025 donkey calendar, sponsored by the store.

The charity event raised more than £900, which will support its work of taking the donkeys to community groups, voluntary organisations, dementia groups and special needs groups.

The cake sale alone raised more than £100, with cakes donated by local businesses including Rao's, Becs Cake Creations, Twyfords, WineVaults, Relish, and Cakefinity.

Director at the store, Deanna Miles, said: "It’s more than providing eye and hearing care, it’s becoming a friendly face and a true hub of the community.

"We are so thankful that we have been welcomed with open arms for these past three years and been able to celebrate every year with the people who make it possible.

"We chose to fundraise for the miniature donkeys again this year as they are a true pillar of the community.

"The therapy they provide is as essential as eye and ear care."

Sarah McPherson, founder of Miniature Donkeys for Wellbeing, said: "The fundraising event with Specsavers in Beccles was great for us.

"The staff at Specsavers have been so supportive of our work, and they have gone the extra mile in promoting the event and baking cakes, even bringing them in on their days off."
