An arts and crafts store in Beccles is set to continue after the business announced its closure last month.

The Needlecraft Shop in Station Road has confirmed the business will now remain under new management.

Owners Janet Holt and Joan Moore will still retire and close the shop on September 28.

But the nearly 60 year-old business will reopen at the beginning of October under Amberley Kemp, a graduate of the Royal School of Needlework.

In a notice put in the shop window on Station Road, the new owner said: “We are pleased to announce that The Needlecraft Shop will be reopening in October under new management.

“We would like to thank Janet and Joan for their years of hard work."

She added: "It's an honour to be continuing the legacy of The Needlecraft Shop."

"I want The Needlecraft Shop to remain a crafting haven for the community."

Janet Holt was delighted the shop will live on and said: “We are over the moon”.

“There are too many empty shops so it’s nice to know it will continue.”

“We’ve had some lovely comments,” she added.

The outgoing pair had taken over the business in 2001 which was originally opened in 1967 by Wynn Baldry.

Its new owner said: "I am going to carry on stocking everyone's favourite products in haberdashery and wool and bring in some exciting new offerings.

"I've been so amazed at the support received from Janet, Joan and customers and look forward to welcoming everyone to the shop in October."

The shop will reopen on October 7.
