Saxon House, a supported housing scheme in Loddon, has been given the green light to create another nine apartments.
The application was lodged with South Norfolk Council by Adam Sliwinksi earlier this year and approved this month.
The proposal includes five extra rooms on the ground floor, two on the first floor, and two on the second floor, increasing the residential units from 37 to 46.
The accommodation is for older people who can live independently but require on-site support for them to do so.
Documents say that all the additional units will be for affordable rent.
In a letter, Keith Mitchell, housing enabling officer, said: “There is an increasing need for this type of accommodation”.

Along with the nine apartments, additional internal alterations will provide space for a staff room, staff office, a new buggy store, guest room, laundry room, and a hairdresser’s room.
Saxon House is next to the Loddon Infant and Nursery School on Kittens Lane.
The applicant also lodged another application at the same property to build six bungalows for supported living earlier this year.
The bungalows would border the school playing field at the back of the Saxon House building.
While no decision has been made yet, public comments’ object to the potential bungalows on grounds of “overdevelopment” and “disturbance on vulnerable wildlife”.
The parish council has also objected to the plans due to “the loss of community garden and detrimental impact on biodiversity”.
Concerns regarding car parking and inadequate emergency access have also been raised by the council.
