A boat that sank following a dramatic blaze on a Broads river which also claimed two other vessels has been finally removed.

The fire earlier this month saw three vessels go up in flames as they were moored along the River Chet, in between Loddon Marina and Pyes Mill Picnic Area.

Firefighters from Norfolk and Suffolk arrived on the scene to put out the blaze as it violently engulfed three boats on Monday, August 5.

The last remaining vessel was removed on Tuesday by a salvage team employed by the vessel owner’s insurance company.

Fiona Husband, director of nearby Pacific Cruisers, said the clear-up has had a "negative impact" on her business.

"It very much had a negative impact on our business making it very difficult for our customer to set off on their holidays and returning back to the boatyard.

"We were also unable to offer toilet pump-out service and refuelling to visiting boats at the height of the season," she said.

"Luckily, boat users were able to pass the sunken vessel and all motored slowly and carefully.

"We had to make sure that we did not have any of our larger boats moored at this narrowest point.

"We were also disappointed that the Environment Agency and Broads Authority didn’t follow up or offer advice regarding the debris and diesel in the river."
