Streets in Norfolk are planning how they will celebrate World Car-Free Day on Sunday, September 22.
Norfolk County Council is facilitating the global event on a local level by offering free street closures for Norfolk Car-Free Day. The day aims to encourage people to explore greener alternatives to car travel.
Participating roads can host street parties, create dedicated play areas for children or simply enjoy a day of traffic-free peace.
Councillor Graham Plant, Norfolk County Council's cabinet member for Highways and Infrastructure, said: "Car-Free Day is a fantastic opportunity for the whole community to come together and enjoy what our beautiful streets have to offer when they are free of traffic.
"This event is a step forward in promoting sustainable transport solutions and community well-being."
The bike and e-scooter sharing company Beryl will also provide free rides on the day.
Matt White, founder of Car-Free Norwich, said: "Car-Free Day not only promotes environmental benefits and healthier lifestyles but also brings people together in unique and joyful ways."
Communities must apply for road closures on the Norfolk County Council website by August 23.
