Salvage work to recover two boats which sunk on the Norfolk Broads following a devastating fire is to get under way.

Teams are preparing to bring up the vessels which sank on the River Chet, between Loddon Marina and Pyes Mill picnic area, on August 5.

Officials from the Broads Authority have announced that the works to raise the boats will begin August 14 and be completed by August 23.

In a statement, they said: "Divers will be in the water to assist with the recovery.

"Vessels may be temporarily restricted and regulated in their movement in the vicinity of the works."

They asked people to take care in the area.

The fire originated on one boat and spread to two others.

Two of the craft were deliberately sunk by firefighters in order to control the blaze.

The Broads Authority confirmed that the boat the fire had started on had an up-to-date boat safety certificate.

Nobody was reported injured at the incident.
