A centenarian has marked her milestone with a family celebration at a residential home.

Sybil Brinded rang in her 100th birthday surrounded by relatives at Beauchamp House, Chedgrave, where she has lived for seven years.

Born on June 10 1924, she spent the majority of her life in Earsham, moving to full-time care when her health began to decline.

During the war, she served as a 'land girl' on a farm in Earsham, and reflects fondly on these formative years.

The following years saw her work at Clays of Bungay and Earsham Hall Boarding School, eventually retiring from Daylin Electronics in the late 80s.

She led an active social life, with interests in Bridge and Bowls, and performed the role of church warden at Earsham Church.

Happy and well-cared for at Beauchamp House, she engages in the home's activities when her health allows.

According to her niece and next of kin, Caroline Milton, her aunt is fondly loved by her two great-nieces, Hayley Sonnex and Julia Alden, one great-great nephew and two great-great nieces.
