A triple heatwave could be hitting the UK this month - but what are weather forecasters saying it will be like in Suffolk?

Despite the arrival of meteorological summer, we haven't seen much of the stereotypical sunny weather so far.

A cold front moved in at the start of this week and brought with it spells of rain and cooler temperatures.

As it moves on, Suffolk is to remain largely dry with occasional showers during the rest of the week.

Colder temperatures are to remain as a cooler plume of air makes its way over the county.

However, those summer temperatures could return the week after, with the second half of June being much warmer.

A senior meteorologist at the British Weather Services, Jim Dale, said the UK was heading "in the right direction" for a heatwave with temperatures "well into the 30s".

The Met Office agreed that a period of high pressure would bring warmer weather although they challenged the idea that a heatwave is on its way.

Its long range forecast for June 19 until the start of July says: "all areas can expect to see some spells of drier, sunnier weather".

The forecast added: "Temperatures are most likely to be close to normal or slightly above."

It comes after the county has been battered by heavy rain over the past couple of months. 

Torrential downpours have meant a number of roads across the county have been flooded. 

A number of weather warnings and flood alerts have been issued for the county over the past month.
