Suffolk restaurant The Three Cooks in Bungay to close

But now The Three Cooks in Bungay has announced it will be closing its doors for the final time this weekend.

The family-run business was founded in 2011 by Stuart O'Neill and his wife Chan, from Cambodia and who was the chef of the homemade food the business served.

In a statement, they announced that the business will close for the last time on Sunday (June 2).

"We have had a fantastic time serving Asian cuisine during the 14 years of living in Bungay, but we both feel the time is right to take a little break, visit friends and family and consider what's next for the Three Cooks business. 

"We thoroughly enjoyed our final Curry Night yesterday, which was a huge success, and for those that couldn't make a booking, we will be open tonight, tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday.

"So there's plenty of time to sample Chan's cooking before she turns the stoves off for the final time; in what has been a fantastic period within our lives," the statement read.

"We would love to see as many of you as possible before we close our doors, and once again, we thank all of you for supporting us in the many years we have operated in Bungay."

The Three Cooks has been based at The Castle Inn on Earsham Street since 2021 when Tanya and Mark Hougham passed it over - after their 14 years at the site.

Previously The Three Cooks was based at the top of Bridge Street where it operated for ten years.

The Castle Inn, a 16th-century pub and restaurant, is currently on the market, listed on Rightmove for a value of £395,000.
