Community groups in Beccles have received a funding boost.
East Suffolk councillors have provided more than £4,800 into the community, supporting five organisations through the Enabling Communities Budget.
The grants received by local groups vary in size and purpose, addressing a range of community needs.
The Beccles Salvation Army Church and Community Centre in Blyburgate received £461.99 for a new water heater installation, serving more than 100 weekly users.
The sum of £1,500 was allocated for the conversion of a toilet space into a shower within the Salvation Army facility.
For families struggling with energy costs, Beccles Primary Academy was granted £1,000 for a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The Waveney Centre got £900.36 to improve the kitchen, helping them to continue providing community meals.
TGI Friday (Thank God it's Friday) Youth Hub received £1,000 for games, cooking, and craft equipment.
This initiative is expanding, setting up a new group for Year 9 and above offering activities for young people and giving them a safe space to meet friends and have fun..
East Suffolk councillor for Beccles and Worlingham, Councillor Sheryl Rumble, said: "We are pleased to have been able to provide this funding to all these organisations, who are supporting Beccles residents in a variety of ways.
"There is a huge amount of hard work which goes on ‘behind the scenes’ every day in our communities and we are proud to be able to support some of this work which makes such a difference to local people.”
Enabling Communities Budgets are equally divided between East Suffolk Council's 55 members, each having £7,500 available to spend on community projects or to develop new projects which tackle community needs in their area.
Community groups wishing to apply for Enabling Community Budget funding should contact their district councillor.
