Bungay Museum is preparing for a summer reopening with a new exhibition.

Volunteers at Bungay Museum are busy preparing for the reopening of the museum in Broad Street for the summer and planning a temporary exhibition, entitled Leisure in Bungay, at the archive centre at No8A Market Place.

From March 28, visitors will have access to a vast array of photographs, leaflets and posters from the museum's archives showcasing some of Bungay's most memorable events.

While already featuring a rich display, museum volunteers are calling for the public to lend additional items for the exhibition.

In particular, materials from the 70s, 80s and 90s are in demand.

The content could relate to live music, festivals or any other Bungay event.

Those with potential contributions can contact the museum via email or visit the archive hub on any Monday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm, or on Easter Saturday from 10am to 1pm.

The museum also has ambitious visitor targets for the forthcoming season.

After a challenge to attract 1,000 visitors last previous summer, the museum fell just short but considerably surpassed the prior 200 visitor record by welcoming 982 people in 2023.

This year, the aim is to top this figure.

To help meet this objective, the Bungay Museum is keen to enlist more volunteers to ensure a warm welcome for all visitors.

Suitable volunteers would be friendly, enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the town's history.

The museum will open its doors for the summer on March 23, operating every Saturday from 10am to 3pm and Thursdays from 10am to 1pm throughout the season.
