A "small and welcoming" infant school has been praised by Ofsted inspectors.

Staff, pupils, parents and the governing body at a Beccles-area school are celebrating following a 'Good' Ofsted inspection.

Ofsted visited Ravensmere Infant School on St Benedict's Road, Beccles, for the school's first inspection in more than 13 years.

Headteacher Louise Creed praised the whole school community and her "exceptional staff for their hard work and commitment."

After the inspection was carried out on November 28/29 last year and published in recent days, lead Ofsted inspector Ashley Best-White and inspector Conor Heaven found the school to have a 'good quality of education’, 'good leadership and management', 'good early years provision', 'good behaviour and attitudes' and 'good personal development' as it's 'overall effectiveness' was rated as 'Good.'

With 41 pupils aged five to seven on the school roll, inspectors said: "Pupils are happy at this small and welcoming school.

"They describe the school as one big family.

"Pupils thrive because of the high expectations and quality of care they 
receive."

The school, which is part of The Active Learning Trust, was also commended by inspectors for: "The calm atmosphere helps [pupils] learn.

“The school has worked tirelessly to design a new curriculum that is ambitious for all pupils."

Ms Creed said: "I am delighted with this outcome and extend my heartfelt gratitude to our senior leaders, teachers and support staff for their dedication.

"I'm grateful to The Active Learning Trust for their invaluable guidance.

"Lastly, a huge ‘thank you’ to our incredible children, who truly deserve the best."
