An 81-year-old pensioner is recovering from his injuries after he was savagely attacked by an "out of control" small dog which knocked him to the floor.
The incident happened on Wednesday, December 6 at 3.55pm near to the bus stop opposite Bungay Co-op.
Bernard Duffield, a retired lecturer who worked at Northampton University for 36 years, had just got off the bus from the James Paget University Hospital.
He was waiting for a lift to his home, which is about 15 minutes away where he lives with his wife.
A woman, described as possibly being in her 20s, was walking past with a barking dog and was said to have dropped its lead.
The dog, which is described as being small and mid-grey with curly hair, is said to have then knocked Mr Duffield to the floor before mauling his arm and leg.

Mr Duffield said: "I do not want compensation, I simply just want a dangerous dog taken off the streets.
"This has happened to me and who knows who else it could affect.
"I can't walk after the attack and really just want action taken.
"I feel sorry for the poor woman who was walking the dog as she was helpless.
"But frankly it was a terrifying moment and her dog needs to be put down as it is out of control and unsafe.
"The owner stood and watched as her dog mauled my arm and leg so badly before eventually dragging it off me."

Mr Duffield's lift then took him back to the hospital.
"I am an old man, but for an elderly chap am quite fit, but the injuries have left me unable to walk and in lots of pain.
"I was supposed to go Morris dancing next week but can't now," Mr Duffield said.
