South Norfolk's second biggest town is about to get a little larger, after plans to build new homes there were approved.
South Norfolk District Council has given the go-ahead for nine two-bedroom flats on land just off Bellacre Close, Diss.
The site was previously a gas works and Diss Town Council had opposed the plans, saying there could still be pockets of gas in the land.
The council recommended checks be carried out on the soil there. SNDC say these have been done and that the site is safe.
The developer, Mr Smith, is the freehold owner of the site, and the two-bedroom flats he plans to build will each be roughly the size of a squash court.

As part of the many conditions for the development, SNDC has issued restrictions on working times for builders, to reduce the impact on neighbours.
Construction can only occur between 8am and 6pm, on Monday to Friday, and between 8am and 1pm on Saturdays, with no work on Sundays.
