A new retirement home complex built in the centre of a market town has helped a developer claim a top prize at a business awards ceremony.
McCarthy Stone's Foundry Place site in Beccles on Gorsford Road has scooped the top award for best retirement scheme at this year’s Housebuilder Awards.
The Foundry Place development is said to bridge the gap between traditional residential care and independent living for the over 70s.
It was chosen from hundreds of entries and scored against various categories.
David Meachem, divisional sales director at McCarthy Stone, said: “We are delighted to be recognised for the superior design of our communities and our unique brand of retirement living, in one of the sector’s most highly regarded awards scheme.
“The accolade is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team at Foundry Place.
"We are proud to play our part in enabling older people to live independently for as long as possible, and to lead happier, healthier lives.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in creating this award-winning development.
"It is one of our first retirement communities to offer a choice of apartments and bungalows, as well as a range of purchasing options to make retiring in style more accessible.”
There are still several one and two-bedroom apartments available for purchase.
