The owners of a former mill overlooking the River Waveney are excited to "breathe new life" into the building as they transform it into a coffee roastery and café.

The mill in Wainford, just outside of Bungay, sits on the bank of the river and took just 10 days to build back in 1958.

The owners of the building, brothers Alex and Toby Hammond, bought the premises in 2016 and have teamed up with Amir Montazer from Etude Coffee to launch their coffee-based venture.

They will be opening the doors of The Silo to the public on Friday.

Alex said: "Everyone who knows the three bridges in the town knows this building, so we hope it can become a place for the community to come and enjoy.

"We have kept as much of the originality and authenticity of the structure the same, while sympathetically modernising it for the new chapter.

"With Amir on board serving coffee he roasts, of the highest quality which will be the anchor of the site, it is a wonderful project breathing new life into the old building."

The director of the coffee company, Mr Montazer, is "excited" to be on board with the Hammonds as their vision shares his coffee business's philosophy.

He said: "It is an exciting opportunity to work with Alex and Toby, we all care passionately about what we do and want to work sustainably.

"It is very unique to go and have a coffee at a roastery. What we will be offering is the freshest and purest coffee around.

"I hope that people will enjoy the setting, drinking in such an authentic old building by the river."

Alex added: "Amir is a genius in the art of the finest coffee, and we cannot wait for people to swing by and enjoy it in our bespoke setting."
