The new mayor of Beccles says she is "honoured" to accept the role and is looking forward to promoting the vibrant town.
Christine Wheeler was elected Beccles mayor at the town council’s annual meeting on Tuesday, May 16 and replaces Barry Darch.
In the her acceptance speech, she said: "I am extremely honoured to be elected Beccles Town Mayor for the year 2023/2024.
"I will do my very best to promote this extraordinary and vibrant town and I look forward to meeting and working with you and for you all in the coming year."

Town councillor Colin Hill was elected to the role of deputy mayor for the coming year.
Rev Phil Cudmore was appointed mayor’s chaplain and cadet Christina Head took on the role of mayor’s cadet.
The mayor's chosen good causes are The May Centre and Thirst Youth Hub.
