People of East Suffolk who have registered to vote will begin to receive their poll cards for the forthcoming local elections in the next few days – and they will look a little different this time.
With photographic ID now required at polling stations East Suffolk Council want to remind people of the new rules.
The cards will be larger and, for the first time, will be delivered in a white envelope, with the words ‘Official Poll Card’ on the front.
The council’s returning, officer Chris Bally, said: “Elections to East Suffolk Council are fast approaching and we want everyone who is eligible to have the opportunity to vote.
“These new poll cards are just one of many ways we are providing information about the new voter ID requirements”
People registered to vote will receive their poll cards for the local elections which take place on 4 May.
If you have yet to register, the deadline to do so is 11.59pm on Monday, April 17.
You must take an appropriate photographic ID with you to vote on May 4.
