An artist who has relocated her workshop to Beccles is hoping to create a creative community and promote young artists' work.

Rebecca Osborne, who runs Osborne Studios, has created a gallery in her studio and wants local illustrators to showcase their work.

"It is really helpful for young artists to have visibility and publicity to promote their work.

"And 100% of any art sold goes back to the artist.

"There is a real strength in forming a creative community so we artists can stick together and help each other.

"We want people walking by to call in and see the illustrative work on display in a gallery/workshop.

"I am really looking to highlight the talent in the area - while also pursuing the work I do.

"It is about giving something back because I know how difficult it is to get started in this industry," she said.

Before the pandemic struck Mrs Osbourne would attend conferences and depict the atmosphere visually.

The Zoom craze which emerged during the first lockdown however changed the working sphere for Mrs Osborne and she now can attend and work from her studio.

"We illustrate live from conferences, before the pandemic we would attend them, however now it tends to be over Zoom.

"So this has enabled my husband and me the opportunity to work while also promoting work in the community.

"I also work on illustrations of local community figures, such as celebrating the work the NHS does.

"I drew Captain Tom during the pandemic, and the attention this got really propelled the business," Mrs Obsorne said.

When Mrs Osborne and her husband Paul first saw their new shop it ticked all their boxes and they couldn't wait to sign the contract.

Mrs Osborne said: "My husband and I were looking for somewhere with a shopfront after having been in an office in Norwich.

"The office was a really enclosed working environment, whereas our new shop is expansive and encourages creativity.

"We loved the feel of this place from when we first visited, it has great lighting and is in a good location in town.

"We have space to display other artists' work and make use full use of the natural light."

Osborne Studios is situated at 1 Ingate, Beccles, Suffolk, NR34 9RU
