A man has suffered potentially life-changing injuries after a crashing a car into a home on the Norfolk-Suffolk border.
Emergency services were called just after 10.45pm on Saturday, December 31 to reports of a crash on the B1062 at Barsham, between Beccles and Bungay.
According to Suffolk police, a blue Mazda was travelling toward Beccles and left the road before crashing into a house at Barsham Hill.
Police, ambulance and the fire service all attended the scene.
The driver of the Mazda, a man in his 50s, had to be extracted from the vehicle by the fire service and was taken to James Paget Hospital in Gorleston.
His injuries were not initially thought to be serious but are now considered to be potentially life-changing, police said.
The crash caused significant damage to the house and a structural engineer attended to assess the building.
The resident was home at the time of the incident but suffered no injuries.
The road was closed for several hours to allow for a collision investigation to take place, to clear the road and to allow for recovery of the vehicle.
Julie Wren said she was "shocked and stunned" upon witnessing the crash at her house, where she has lived for 25 years.
It was the third accident on New Year's Eve on the same stretch of road, which has become a notorious blackspot due to flooding.
She said: "My house is smashed and unsafe to live in, a driver nearly died and is badly injured, and the whole community here is in shock."
Police would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision or anyone with information that may be of assistance to the investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Roads and Armed Policing Team at Suffolk police, quoting CAD 352 of December 31.
