A hat-trick within 27 minutes of the start by Bungay's John Nobbs put paid to any thoughts of a giant-killing act by Thetford in the Anglia Access Veterans' League Shield final played at Diss FC.
Ex-Bolton and City star Simon Charlton and Kevin Talbot added further goals in the first-half.
The west Norfolk side fared better in the second period with Bungay player/manager Mick Money netting twice and Rob Jeffries firing home a consolation in the closing stages to make the final score 7-1.
The man of the match award went to John Nobbs.
• The wet weather has played havoc with Bungay Charity Cup matches, with semi-finals postponed on a number of occasions.
Usually the final would be played Friday evening at Maltings Meadow, but neither semi-final has been played so far.
Weather permitting one of those games, Norton Athletic v Beccles Caxton, will be played Friday evening – if not, Saturday afternoon to allow extra time for the pitch to dry out – with the Barsham v Ellingham semi-final scheduled for Monday, May 14.
The final has been rearranged for Friday, May 18 – but that could be brought forward if Norton are involved, as they have other cup commitments.
All games are played at Bungay Town's ground at the Maltings Meadow. It has been a nightmare for cup secretary Graham Mickleburgh, but he is hopeful the competition, this year in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance, will be completed.
