HALESWORTH TOWN U9 had their toughest match of the season so far away at the league leaders Gorleston Rangers B.

The home side got off to the best possible start with two goals in the first five minutes which involved good but simple passing and Halesworth were guilty of not tracking back to intercept these passes.

After their slow start, Halesworth got into the game with some good tackling, but all too often they were being caught out by quick attacking from a well-organised Gorleston team. They were stretched again before half-time when Gorleston went further in front, leaving their defence and goalkeeper stranded.

The second half was far more even with both goalkeepers making good saves, the pick of which from Halesworth’s James Mitchell who turned a powerful shot round the post for a corner. Halesworth scored a consolation with a well-worked solo goal from Hayden Ling, but this didn’t change the outcome of the match which ended 5-1 to the home side.

ST BENETS WASPS U9A played at Hemsby B and from the first whistle took the game to their opponents. Wasps dominated the first-half possession, wisely and defensively allowed Hemsby very little in the way of chances, thanks to the outstanding William and back-up defender Tom, who was playing out of position due to illness.

Alex, Ryan and Joe battled hard in midfield with Hemsby equally strong in this area, to create chances for Harvey, whose pace looked to worry Hemsby at times. Owen and Josh went close to opening the scoring for Wasps, but good goalkeeping kept them at bay. A save from Wasps keeper Zach in the final minute ensured the Wasps came away with a well-deserved point from a 0-0 draw.

ST BENETS WASPS U9B travelled to Waveney Youth A. Both teams worked hard and Waveney took the lead. Dylan showed some great skills and passed to Kurtis who scored. Tommo made an excellent run down the wing passing to man-of-the-match Aiden, who tapped it in to put Wasps ahead. Goalkeeper Ryan was solid as a rock with strong defending from Zak, Ewan and Tariq. After some great play-making from Lewis, Kurtis, Aiden and Dylan, Tommo slotted one home.

In the second half, Dylan scored for Wasps then Waveney got one back. Final score: Wasps 4, Waveney 2.

ST BENETS WASPS U9C totally dominated the game against Waveney Youth D from start to finish, winning 13-0. Finlay opened the scoring with a great header from a Myles corner, Finlay made it two, again with a pass from Myles, Ryan N crossed for Charlie N to score the third, great work from Ryan N and Callum led to Charlie N making it four.

Ryan N then hit a rocket free-kick from 20 yards to make it five, Finlay completed a well-deserved hat-trick after a Ryan N shot. Harrison, having his best game of the season, made it seven when he drilled in a low shot after a rebound, Ryan N made it eight from a Myles corner. Finlay got his fourth after a good run and shot. Ryan N won the ball and lashed in number 10. Charlie N completed his hat-trick straight from a goal kick. He added another with a good strike from a Myles P corner.

The last goal, was the best of the day when Callum sent Myles away, his cross was finished well by Alfie for his first goal for Wasps. Ethan went up front for the last five minutes and did well. Torres didn’t have much to do, but when he was called upon did well. Myles P also had a fine game and had a hand in most of the goals.
