There was a limited league program in both senior divisions as the Norfolk Senior Cup got underway.
In the Premier Division, Acle came from 3-0 down to earn a point at home to Beccles. Kyle Godbold (2) and Billy Shore gave the visitors a three-goal cushion but Stephen Drake, Cameron Hudson and an own goal earned Acle a point.
Harleston moved three points ahead of Norwich CEYMS with a 3-0 win at Bradenham, Connor Delaney, Nicky Howell and Nathan Stone getting the goals.
Mulbarton were made to work hard by Waveney before an own goal from Ryan Bloomfield eventually saw them take a 1-0 win at Mulberry Park. Reepham were the latest team to be blown away by a resurgent Wroxham Reserves side who have now scored 21 goals in their last three games. Their 7-0 win came thanks to goals from Ryan Fuller (4), Ollie Tarft, Danny Rogers and Harry Brown.
Bungay Town teams paid tribute to former player Aiden Lowe, who was killed in a car crash earlier this month. On the field matters paled into insignificance, but, fittingly, the Bungay players produced their first Division One win of the season, beating Hindringham 2-0, Shaun Whiteman converting a penalty before Dom Mirner sealed the win.
Scole beat Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves 7-1 thanks to a hat-trick from David Coleman, two from Ben Norton-Hugman and further goals from Niall Barker and Chris Collins-Reed. Reece Borrett replied for Kirkley.
In the Senior Cup, four Premier Division Teams were beaten by lower league opponents.
Hellesdon hosted UEA and the students picked up an impressive 3-0 win thanks to goals from Mohammed Hassan, Tyrell Benjamin and a penalty from Owen Betts. Long Stratton fell 2-1 at home against Mundford for whom Ian Fancett and Rob Sayer found the net. Ross Bilham struck a penalty for Stratton, but it wasn’t enough.
Sheringham were the next team to take a Premier Division scalp as hat-tricks from Ben Boyce and Jamie Nelson saw them knock out Blofield 6-3. The Beavers goals came from Jack Robinson, Robbie Fryers and Owen Oliver.
Yelverton also had a good win as they eliminated higher league Stalham Town at Garrick Field. Goals from Tom Mitchell, Ryan Thurgood and Tom Crabb saw them progress. Jack Childes scored for Stalham.
Attleborough earned revenge over North Walsham for their win at Station Road three weeks ago. Jamie Venables (2), Matty Carr and Kieran Brown saw them win 4-1. Colm McGilway scored for North Walsham.
Aylsham beat Hoveton for a second week in a row as they moved into round two with a 2-0 win, Matt Billing and Tom Bush earning their victory.
Cromer’s early-season woes continued as they were thumped 10-1 at home by Premier Division Caister. Gaz Ward (4) and Anton Ward (3) as well as strikes from Harry Barnden, George Barnden and Tom McGee saw them progress. Cromer’s consolation came from Immanuel Cassama.
Loddon were beaten 2-1 at home by Wymondham Town. Jake Rose scored for the home side but they were undone by efforts from Liam Moriarty and Ash Mitchell.
Norwich CEYMS remain unbeaten this season after a 4-2 win after extra time at home against Mattishall. Tom Amis (2), Lewi Allen and Lewis Easter saw them through after goals from Tom Hill and Aaron Kay forced an extra half-an-hour.
St Andrews were the final team to seal their place in the hat for the next round as they knocked out Division One Watton at home, Sam Whiting, Nathan Roe, Ryan Pye, Alex Senior and Dan Bowen getting on the scoresheet.
