Lt Col RICHARD JOHN LEES OBE MC Of Ellingham died on June 6th aged 77. He was a much loved brother, uncle and friend. The funeral will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 6th at St Mary's Church Ellingham. Flowers are welcome. Donations, if desired, to St Mary's Church can be made at the service. Lt Col Richard John Lees OBE MC was my Commanding Officer while I served in Germany with the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment in the early '80s.
Meeting him for the first time, I saw a tall Major whose curly hair was nearly escaping his beret.
His appeareance belied a dedicated & professional, a man with a natural ability to lead and command respect.
We all worked hard for him, many trophies were won.
The years have robbed me of many memories but I did not forget you sir, it was an honour to know you.
Apologies that I could not be present at your final resting place. RIP
