PAUL "Porky" DREW
Aged 63, succumbed to Frontotemporal Dementia on August 17th, 2020, at home with his wife, Susan, and sons Finnegan and Stephen in Virginia. He passed in Susan's arms surrounded by love, knowing his family were there for him every moment. He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Joan Drew and son Liam. Paul is survived by his loving sister Wendy (Colin, Jessica, Jason, Vikki) King, daughter Hanna, grandsons, cousins, and other relatives. Paul was a Beccles boy at heart. His love for the town, people and football club were deep. He was with Beccles Football for over 30 years, loving every second of it. 30 years at M&H Plastics took him to America where he met his wife Susan. Paul described them as a once in a lifetime love. Excited for a second chance with family, he was proud as can be of Finn and Stephen. Bubble fights in the bathtub, hop on pop, bear hunts, pirate stories and rinky dinky doo are cherished memories for Finn before FTD set in and took him away from us. Now the boys will remember reading to Daddy, singing 8 Days a Week with him, helping care for him and they love him for all of it. Diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia in 2016, he declined from disease quickly and lost the ability to communicate but still loved to socialize. While it is common for people to avoid dementia patients, some preferring to think of them as already deceased to ease their thoughts, we would like to thank Lisa Bell, Mark Browne and David Harmer for support, help and checking on us. If you loved Paul and want to honour his memory, we ask that you stay loyal and support your friends and family in sickness, always showing them love. While it is hard for you to see them change, remember it is much harder for them and they need your love and support. Make sure they know how much you care till the end. Dementia may change them but, their love is always there. Our biggest thanks goes to The Adult Care Center of the Northern Shenandoah Valley in Winchester, VA. Without them the journey would have been so much worse. They gave peace of mind, a sense of self worth and purpose to Paul that clearly kept him alive longer. The women showed love to the whole family in a time of fear and stress and will never be forgotten for that. A memorial will be held when Susan is able to bring him back from the US. Donations may be made in his name to The Adult Care Center of the Northern Shenandoah Valley by mail or at the memorial. Paul, we love you luds x x x. PAUL DREW "Porky"
